The password prevents other people from reading your private notes.    А"Features of the personal organizer http://www.jblab.com/features.html JBLab Secure Notes is a personal organizer (PIM), easy-to-use for working with text notes or extracts of text documents, including those containing sensitive information (such as login, password, credit card, etc.). You can use it to organize and protect any text information. Small size of the program and its data files makes its suitable for any input device, in particular, USB flash drive or floppy. This small personal organizer can manage up to 100 000 small text notes. The program is designed for Windows (98, Me, 2000, XP). Left panel of the program window is an info tree to organize notes. Items of the tree are presented by icons and labels. Icons symbolize the subject matter of your note. Labels contain the title of the note. You can easily create a new item in the tree. You can move or copy any tree item and, accordingly, all the information associated with this item. Use Edit menu, toolbar icons, left panel context menu, Drag&Drop, or shortcuts. You can sort the items (i.e. your notes) in alphabetic order, or, manually, any way you like. Ever you can sort notes in different places of the info tree by different type of the sorting. Right panel is meant for viewing and editing the text of the selected note. You can write down the content in the right panel , and its first text line becomes the title of the item. You can move or copy the text from other program to this one, or conversely. Besides text editing, you can dial phone numbers, send e-mail, execute URL's, and open local files in your computer. Just doubleclick the indicated phone number, URL, path, e-mail in the text, or highlight the needed text segment and click the appropriate toolbar icon. Windows application associated with this type of information will run and use the reference. Doubleclick function can be also used for copying single words, such as login or password, into the clipboard. The text of the note that appears in the right panel can be printed (command Print in the File menu or click toolbar icon). You can find or replace text having searched all notes of the document by clicking "Find / Replace" (the toolbar icon, shortcut, or Edit menu command). Each note or folder can be provided, if needed, with the reminder. Saving of the current document is made by standard procedure, or through auto saving option (Settings menu). You can save current document as a text file by the Save As command (File menu). You can set the option to open the last file and the last selected note when you start the program next time ("Open last note" in the Settings menu). Importing other documents is also available. All your information can be protected by password. Auto backup function prevents possible loss of the information.    А%How to start working with the programKhttp://www.jblab.com/howtost.html Run the program, then either open a previously created file (*.jsn) or create a new one. Before you start creating items of the new tree (root folders, subfolders, notes), we recommend to set default icons. Then create a new tree by using toolbar icons or left panel context menu. The name of each item (folder or note) can be edited in both the left and the right panels. In the right panel, the name of the tree item is shown as a headline. The line following the headline is always blank. Move to the next line (with the mouse, or down key, or Enter), then insert or write the text related to this item. When editing the text, use ordinary text editing options (such as Select, Cut, Copy, Paste). You can move or copy any tree item (folder or note) shown on the left panel. All traditional methods are available for copying or moving tree item (Drag&Drop, the menu Edit, toolbar icons, the left panel context menu or shortcuts too.) This will move or copy all information associated with that item. Program allow you to sort each folder content as you need. Select any folder member and set local sorting type by using toolbar "local sorting type" icon. You can protect your tree by a password at any time. Just click the toolbar Key icon to start the password creation dialog.     А%Copying the text from another programщhttp://www.jblab.com/copytext.html There are 3 ways for copying the text from another programm to the PIM. - Simple transporting text via clipboard - Transporting text and title via clipboard - Using Hot Key for copying text and creating new note You can move or copy the text from the right panel into the Clipboard, or, conversely, paste the text from the Clipboard into the right panel. Thus, you transport via the Clipboard the information between this one and other programs. Or you can paste the text from the clipboard into the label box of the tree new item, thus you create a content of the note, and the first line of the text remains in the label box as its name. Ultimate you can use Hot Key (Ctrl+J) for copying the text from another program. Select the text. Then press Ctrl+J (you don't need press Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Ins). PIM will appear with special dialog for editing and inserting new note. Select folder for new note in the tree and click button OK on the dialog. If you don't select the folder and click button OK - current selected note or folder will be used for inserting new note. While you selecting the folder for new note there is possibility to open other file, to create new folder, and so on.    АInfo tree icons№http://www.jblab.com/icons.html Any folder and any note have set of icons for different position and state of this item (as note, as opened folder, as closed folder, as opened root folder, as closed root folder). If a note becomes a folder or a root folder you see appropriate icon. You can set same or different icons for all position of this tree item and you can change icons at any time. Any new note gets a set of icons from it parent folder. New root folder gets the default set of icons. Any document of this personal info manager has own default set of icons. Set default icons (for root folders, subfolders, notes) before creating items of a new tree. You can change default icons at any time, but only new root folders will get new default icons.    АSorting notes and foldersХhttp://www.jblab.com/sorting.html JBLab Secure Notes allow you to sort as you need. You can set own type of the local sorting for each folder. If special local sorting isn't used for the group of items this items are sorted with default rules. Set default type of the sorting for all documents. It is alphabetical with folder first after installing the pim. All new folders will have default type of the sorting Select local type of notes and folders sorting where you need. You can change type of the local sorting at any time. And you can sort all folders with the default type at any time - select command "Execute for all folders" at the Sort submenu (Settings menu) . For manual sorting you can use Drag&Drop, the left panel context menu or shortcuts too. Hold Alt for paste the dragging note before the selected tree item - other way you past the dragging note into the selected folder.    А"Reminder of the personal organizer╓http://www.jblab.com/reminder.html Reminders can be set for each note or folder. You can set main date (time) for reminding and rules for alarm appearing. Tolerance is needed for deciding to remind, or not to remind if the program run inconstantly and can be close before the moment to alarm. The personal organizer allow you to control all reminders from Reminders List. When no one reminder is set, the toolbar Reminders List icon isn't active.    АPassword'http://www.jblab.com/password.html You can protect your tree by a password at any time (in the middle or at the end of the tree creation process). Just click the toolbar Key icon to start the password creation dialog. If the document is password protected, it is shown by the "Password protected" indicator on the status bar at the bottom of the page. Document will be encoded by the most recent password at saving. Thus the new password will replace the old one (if any). Password is requested each time before opening the protected file. Entering an incorrect password will not prevent you from opening the file but will prevent you from reading the text. Disable auto saving before other actions if the text is unreadable!!! Never save document in that case, especially after some random changes in the (unreadable) text or the tree structure or after unsuccessful attempts to enter the password. To make text readable, call the password editing dialog, enter the correct password, check the "Reload document" checkbox, then click "OK".    АBackup and Restorehttp://www.jblab.com/backup.html If you have seted up backup folder and other backup properties (with Backup option from menu Settings) the JBLab Secure Notes will save backup copy of a file that is changed. You can use Restore from the menu File in case it is demanded.    АImportшhttp://www.jblab.com/import.html You can import text file in active document by using Import from the menu File. Select New (the toolbar icon or New from the menu File) before import, If you need import text file in new document. It may be file previously saved as text by JBLab Secure Notes or any other text file. If you have notes (in text file) separated each from other with consecution of a symbols (such as "=","-","~" and some other) notes will become notes in a root folder of the infotree. If the program can't find any separators - you get one root note. In any case root item will be named as text file name. A lot of programs use CSV (comma separated values) for data exporting.
